Whether you've read the book or are just curious about the topic, all are welcome - families, students, teachers, and community members. Thanks to the generous donations from the MSHS and PQ PTOs, copies of The Disengaged Teen: Helping Kids Learn Better, Feel Better, and Live Better are now available at MSHS. National Honor Society members will be providing childcare during the program.

The North Salem Central School District Board of Education will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. The purpose of the hearing will be to receive public comments on proposed changes to the District’s Code of Conduct.
The hearing will take place at 7:30 PM, January 21, 2026, in the North Salem Middle/High School Library located at 230 June Road, North Salem, NY.
The revised Code of Conduct is available on the District’s website: www.northsalemschools.org. The public is also invited to communicate comments via email boe@northsalemschools.org, or in writing by addressing them to the Board of Education at 230 June Road, North Salem, NY 10560

This policy aims to ensure that students remain focused on their academic responsibilities throughout the school day, which includes all instructional and non-instructional periods such as homeroom, lunch, recess, study halls, and passing time.

On a cold winter day, neighbors and friends gathered around a garage for a band's first concert. Playing a mix of punk and rock, the teenagers raised several hundred dollars to provide clean water to children in Somalia.

A chinchilla's twitching whiskers, a snake's darting tongue, and a tortoise's sharp claws captivated kindergarteners at Pequenakonck Elementary School during an up-close wildlife encounter, sponsored by the PQ PTO.

The roars rolled through the crowds at our homecoming pep rally! Students, families, and alumni packed the gym, shaking the walls with their cheers and getting our teams excited and ready for their weekend games. When Tigers unite, their roars resonate throughout the region!

Twenty dried beans. That's all North Salem High School students get to represent their entire monthly paycheck in math teacher Melissa Ruffler's new financial literacy class. Ruffler challenged them to make every bean count across housing, food, transportation, and everything else life demands.

In front of a crowd filled with joyful families, the fifth-grade students of Pequenakonck Elementary School walked across the stage to receive their certificates of completion. They reflected on their experiences in elementary school, sang heartfelt songs, shared memories and photographs, and took their first steps toward middle school, eager to embrace new challenges ahead.
